High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Pokémon: The First Movie, originally released in Japan as Pocket Monsters the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back, is a 1998 Japanese animated film directed by Kunihiko Yuyama, the chief director of the Pokémon television series. It is the first theatrical release in the Pokémon franchise. The title can also be interpreted as Mewtwo's Counterattack. As Pokémon were extremely popular when the film was released, it was a box office hit worldwide. It primarily consists of three segments: Pikachu's Vacation, a 20+ minute feature focusing on the most popular Pokémon character Pikachu, Origin of Mewtwo, a 10-minute featurette that functions as a prologue to the main feature, and Mewtwo Strikes Back, the main 75-minute movie feature.

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The following is a list of main and recurring characters that have appeared within the Pokémon anime series. Since the show''s inception, only the central protagonist, Ash Ketchum, his main Pokémon, Pikachu, and his principal antagonists - Jessie, James, and Meowth - have regularly appeared in every season. In 2006, with the beginning of the Battle Frontier season, almost all of the original voice cast was replaced in relation to the previous English-production company, 4Kids Entertainment, being dropped by The Pokémon Company. In 2009, TAJ Productions disbanded, and this thus caused DuArt Film and Video to replace them as the production company in charge, starting with DP: Battle Dimension, plus, 4Kids related actors returned to guest starring role status, however, the previous cast chosen by PUSA was still present. English names are given before the Japanese names in Western order (given name before surname), when possible.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! This is a list of characters in the Pokémon games, animated TV series, and manga series. Save for notable specific Pokémon, the specific species of Pokémon are not listed here, they are instead detailed further at List of Pokémon. Note that this list includes characters from all of the various incarnations of the Pokémon franchise. This includes characters from a number of discrete, similar-but-separate continuities, including the video game continuity, the anime continuity, the Pokémon Adventures continuity, the Electric Tale of Pikachu manga continuity, and the Magical Pokémon Journey manga continuity. The anime continuity and most of the manga continuities are based to varying degrees on the games, but they all diverge at key points. A single character may appear in multiple continuities, sometimes in the same basic role (e.g. Giovanni), sometimes in very different roles (e.g. Brock).
